The Austin Bruins opened their home portion of the schedule Saturday night against the Aberdeen Wings.  Austin entered action with a two week idle period. The Wings lost 7-2 on Friday night against the Bismarck Bobcats. The Wings got off to a solid start as Paul Prescott found the back of the net on the power play. Next it was Steven Oberzanek making it a 2-0 Wings lead. Christian Folin scored a shorthanded goal on a breakaway for the Bruins. Aberdeen led 2-1 after one period of play. The middle frame had the Bruins getting scoring chances but unable to capitalize. The Wings added two more in period number two making it a 4-1 lead for Aberdeen.  The third period John Kirby scored on the power play, assists went to Connor Quinn and Brandon Wahlin. The Bruins added their second goal of the period as Grant Williams was set up by Christian Folin and Trevor Waldoch. The Bruins then tied it courtesy of Brandon Wahlin, assists went to CJ Smith and John Gerht. The game winning goal was scored by John Simonson, assists went to Andy Faust and John Gerht. The Bruins stormed back and scored 4 unanswered goals for the victory beating the Wings 5-4. Next weekend the Bruins will be in Minot North Dakota to battle the Tauros.
