B’s Win in Shootout

The Austin Bruins returned to Riverside Arena to battle the Brookings Blizzard on pink ice. The sellout crowd did not have much to cheer about in the first period. The Bruins had seven shots on net in the first period but could not capitalize. Brookings led 1-0 after at the first intermission. The second frame Austin came to life. The Bruins added 18 shots on Brookings tender Drew Wiegman who stopped them all. At the e end of two periods of play Austin trailed 1-0. The third period Austin got a monumental tally from AJ Reid, Joey Caprio had the assist. With no conclusion the game went to overtime. In the Overtime Nick Lehr continued his solid play as both teams had their chances but the score remained 1-1. In the shootout Jason Pawloski came in for relief of Nick Lehr and made three giant saves. CJ Smith scored the winner in the shootout in the final frame. Austin will travel to Bismarck next weekend to tangle with the 2ndplace Bobcats. It will mark the final road trip to Capital of North Dakota during the regular season.
