Bruins Win Big

The Black and Yellow Bruins hit the road to say hello to their favorite rival the Bismarck Bobcats. The first session from the VFW Sports Center was full of momentum for both clubs. Bismarck scored just 40 seconds into the first period to take a 1-0 lead. Austin was able to counter with a Power Play goal from Jay Dickman assisting was John Simonson. At the end of one period of play the contest was tied 1-1. The second stanza the B’s got a giant goal on a 2 on 1 from AJ Reid, Jay Dickman and John Simonson had assists. Bismarck was able to even the score at two with a shot from the point. The Black and Yellow went right back on the grind and got a Power Play goal from CJ Smith, Riley Colvard had the assist.  Bismarck was able to bounce back again tying the contest at three on the Power Play. Your Austin Bruins regained the lead, with a buzzer beater goal by CJ Smith on the Power Play. The final frame Austin got another Power Play goal this time from Brandon Wahlin assisting was Cody Dixon. The Bobcats were able to answer back again as they evened the score 5-5 with two goals. With no conclusion during regulation the game went to overtime. There was no conclusion in the overtime so the game went to a shootout. The B’s got the sealer in the shootout from Brandon Wahlin as the Bruins win 6-5. Austin will play all of their remaining games this month at Riverside Arena.
