Bruins Win 4-1

The Austin Bruins were back at Riverside Arena to clash with the 2ND place Brookings Blizzard. With the ownership of first place on the table the first period was as expected. Austin led 1-0 with a goal from AJ Reid who was set up by Nate Mondy. After one period of play Austin led 1-0. The second period Brookings was able to tie it with a goal from Shayne McLaughlin. Austin regained the lead with a monumental shorthanded goal from Riley Colvard assisting was Jake Arroyo. After two periods of play the shots were even at 15 apiece. The third period Austin took a 3-1 lead as Brandon Wahlin set up Johnny Simonson. The Blizzard pulled their tender Drew Wiegman for an extra attacker. Jay Dickman put the puck in an empty net to put the icing on the cake. Nick Lehr picks up another victory as the Bruins won 4-1. Austin will wrap up the two game set at Riverside Arena on Saturday night. If you can’t make it to the barn you can listen to Puck Talk at 6:00 on AM 1480 KAUS. Pregame will start at 6:55 and the drop of the puck is slated for 7:05.
