Bruins Tender Defenseman Gudme

Nov 28, 2017

AUSTIN, MN – The Austin Bruins, proud members of the North American Hockey League, have announced another tending signing – defenseman Kyle Gudme of the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies. Gudme is a 2000 birthyear from St. Clair, MI.

Gudme is currently with Oakland’s U18 squad and has one goal in four games played. He was in the Jr. Grizzlies organization from 2013-16 at the Bantam Minor and Major levels as well as the U16s. He played the 2016-17 season with Little Caesars U16s.

“Kyle jumped onto our radar early this season at the opening Showcase in Blaine,” said Bruins Associate Head Coach Al Rooney. “He stood out to our staff with his size and physical play. He plays the game with some snarl and that was certainly something that we were seeking.”

Gudme has good size at 6’3, 167 pounds, but Rooney says he moves well.

“For a big defenseman, he has good mobility both up and down the ice as well as closing down opponents in the D-zone,” Rooney added. “We think his ability will translate well for us in the NAHL. I think the fans in Austin are going to love watching him play his physical style around the ice – he makes opponents pay the price if they have their head down.”

Gudme joins CarShield forward Joe Winkelmann and goaltender Kyle McLellan as players to have signed tender agreements in the last month.
