Bruins Sweep Owatonna Express!!

The Bruins were back in action this Saturday night as they continued their series against the Owatonna Express. On Friday night the Bruins picked up another victory on home ice. Grand Rapids Minnesota native AJ Underwood recorded a shutout in his first start in the North American Hockey League. The Express come into action 8-1-1 in their last 10 games and hold the first place position in the Central Division. The opening period from Four Seasons Complex in Owatonna Minnesota was a quick pace. The Express got on the board first as Nick Widing scored, Beau Beau Burgau and Marian Fila were credited with assists. Then Bruins pumped one in on the power play as Charlie Adams scored his 12 goal of the season. Assists went to Jordan Greenberg and Alex Tesensky. Next it was the Duluth native Cody Hotchkin, assisting on the goal was James Dickinson. The Bruins went back on the power play and Sam Olson scored, assists went to Charlie Adams and Trevor Waldoch. At the first intermission the Bruins had the 3-1 lead. The second frame from Four Seasons Complex was scoreless. Austin outshot Owatonna 24-23 after two periods of play. The third period the Bruins added one more tally from Jordan Greenberg, who received a pass from Charlie Adams. The Greenberg and Adams duo teamed up again this time on the power play. The Bruins final score was from Jadin Martin assists went to Jeremy Finger and Mike Adomowicz. Austin rallied to score six unanswered goals to pick up the 6-1 victory. With the victory the Bruins are now in fifth place in the central division. The Bruins are back in action next weekend at Riverside Arena as they face off against the Coulee Region Chill. There will be a silent auction with items from items from many local businesses including: $200 in Wal-Mart gift cards, 1 month membership to Curves for Women, an autographed goalie stick, (MN Wild’s #32 Niklas Backstrom), men and women’s bracelet from Rogers and Hollands Jewelers, Holiday Inn/Torge’s Live gift cards, and many more. All of the proceeds will be donated to The Hormel Institute's world-renowned breast cancer research.
