Bruins Lose on Road

The Austin Bruins are back on the road as they made one of their final appearances at the VFW in Bismarck to take on the Bobcats. On Friday night the game was cancelled and rescheduled for Monday at 8:30. Saturday night’s game marks number 50 on the season for the Bruins. Austin is coming off of a split at Riverside Arena last weekend against Bismarck. The opening frame from the VFW in Bismarck North Dakota was fairly even. Sam Dougherty started the scoring in the first period for the Bobcats, assisting on the goal was Dan Zawacki. The Bruins fired a total of 14 shots on Bobcats net minder Ryan Faragher in the opening period; the bruins trailed 1-0 at the first intermission. The second period Dalton Spicer scored his first goal of the season on the power play and the Bobcats had a 2-0 lead. The Bobcats added one more on the power play this time it was the Bobcats captain Matt Gates and the Bobcats had a 3-0 lead after two periods of play. The third period from Bismarck North Dakota was a better one for the Bruins, Jack Walsh beat Ryan Faragher in the third assisting on the goal was James Dickinson and Dawson Kuhlmann. The Bruins fired a total of 43 shots on net. Keegan Asmundson stopped 42 pucks on the night. The Bruins failed to get anything sparked offensively as the Bobcats bested the Bruins 3-1. The Bruins will be facing off against the Alexandria Blizzard this Sunday at the Buffalo Civic Center in Western Minnesota. The game was originally scheduled for January 1. The Bruins will be back at home to take on the Aberdeen Wings on the 18th and 19th of March. This will be the final regular season series at Riverside Arena.
