Bruins Grind Out Victory

The Austin bruins hit the road for the first official road trip on the young season.  The Bruins traveled north to Minot North Dakota as they battled the new expansion Minot Tauros. The opening frame from Maysa Arena was a battle for both squads. After one period of play the Bruins had the majority of the scoring opportunities, tossing 16 pucks on net while the Tauros had 10 shots. The second period the Tauros got on the board quickly taking the 1-0 lead. The Bruins answered back as CJ Smith pumped in his second goal of the season, assists went to Riley Colvard and Kody Reuter. The Bruins took the lead as Jake Flynn and Brandon Wahlin set up John Kirby. After two periods of play Austin had a 2-1 lead and outshot Minot 36-19. The third period the Bruins capitalized in the power play as Christian Folin scored from the blue line assisting was Charlie Adams.  The Bruins than added another goal Trevor Waldoch was set up by CJ Smith. The Bruins scored their fifth goal of the game as John Gerht found a seam, assisting on the goal was Charlie Adams. The Tauros picked up their second goal of the game with just 32 seconds in the third. The Bruins skated their way to victory 5-2.
