Nov 20, 2016

Richfield, MN – The Bruins picked up a point for the sixth game in a row but lost their second shootout of the week, falling 3-2 to the Minnesota Magicians on Saturday night at Richfield Ice Arena.

After giving up the only goal of the first period to the Magicians’ Cameron Buhl, the Bruins scored twice in a span of 1:25 of the 2nd. Captain Travis Kothenbeutel made an impressive re-direct to tie the game at 12:29 and then Charlie Spetz blasted a point shot through traffic shortly after for a 2-1 Bruins lead heading into the third.

Although the third period was their best played, the Bruins surrendered the tying goal late, as Brendan Skarda capitalized with the goaltender pulled and 1:04 to go. After a scoreless OT period, former Bruin Travis Brown scored the shootout’s only goal in the fourth round to bring the final to 3-2 Magicians. Jake Kucharski made 29 saves in the loss while Ivan Prosvetov stopped 23 in the win.

The Bruins continue their busy November with a trip to Janesville on Wednesday against the Jets at 7:00. They’ll play in Janesville again on Friday.
