Bruins Drop Shootout

Dec 6, 2012

The Austin Bruins traveled to the Magical City of Minot North Dakota to battle the Minotauros. The 1st period was as fast as expected. Minot took a 1-0 lead on the Power Play as Matt Audette found the back of the net.  Austin’s AJ Reid was able to even the contest at one on the Power Play, Cody Dixon had the assist. Austin outshot Minot 8-6 in the first frame. The second period featured one of the biggest brawls Maysa Arena has ever seen.  Chris Fischer was protecting his goaltender when a scrum broke out that sent nine players to the penalty box. At the end of two periods of play it was still 1-1. The third frame was as eventful as the first, the play continued at a high rate of speed. After no conclusion after regulation the game went to overtime. Both teams had their chances on the 4 on 4, but there was no conclusion after five minutes. In the shootout Minot was able to prevail with a 2-1 victory.  Austin will wrap up play tomorrow night at Maysa Arena. For live play by play action log onto Fast Hockey.com
