Bruins break $200,000 mark with successful Paint the Rink Pink 2017

AUSTIN, MN - The Austin Bruins surpassed the $200,000 mark in total funds raised in Paint the Rink Pink history, by gathering $24,215 for the Hormel Institute in their 7th annual event this past Friday, February 10th.

On a pink-painted sheet of ice in front of a sellout crowd, the Bruins defeated the Coulee Region Chill, 6-2, with leading scorer Justin Misiak netting a hat trick and newly acquired Jack Murphy scoring two goals in his debut.

In the month leading up to the game, the Bruins sold t-shirts and raffle tickets for Bruiser's #10 pink jersey. On the night of the game, there was a 50-50 raffle and cancer tribute video, with photo submissions from fans. After the game came the live auction featuring skits and performances from Bruins players. Each pink jersey was auctioned off for charity along with several autographed alumni items, included signed sticks from Minnesota State-Mankato and the University of Minnesota men's hockey teams and signed jerseys from the University of Minnesota-Duluth and University of Massachusetts-Lowell.

The Bruins have raised $217,409 dollars for the Hormel Institute in seven seasons of Paint the Rink Pink.
