The Austin Bruins were back on the road as they traveled to Brookings South Dakota to battle the Blizzard. The first stanza from the Larson Ice Center was as fast as anticipated. The ice was tilted in the Bruins favor as they got a goal from Captain Chris Fischer assisting was CJ Smith. Austin continued the pressure as Easton Viitala muscled one to the back of the net assists went to Joe Caprio and Nate Mondry. The Black and Yellow got a huge goal from John Simonson off a rebound, the assist went to CJ Smith. At the end of one period of play Austin led 3-0. The middle stanza the Blizzard took over early scoring 2 goals in the first four minutes. With the score 3-2 Drew Anderson scored from a shallow angle the tally was unassisted. The B’s got than scored in the PP as AJ Reid dented the twine assisting was the big Jay Dickman. At the end of two frames the score was 5-2 Austin. The third period Mike Bond fought Matt Youso, Youso won the fight but Bond did some serious damage to the very dangerous Youso. The Blizzard pulled Drew Wiegman with four minutes left and added one more. Nick Lehr recorded the victory as the Bruins win big 5-3. Austin will finish the two game set tomorrow evening.
