Bruins blanked in Bismarck

BISMARCK, ND – The Bobcats scored once in each period while Hunter Sheppard stopped all 21 Bruins shots in a 3-0 Bismarck victory on Saturday night at V.F.W. Sports Center. Bismarck swept the weekend series and moved into an early season first place tie in the Central Division.

Jared Pike opened the scoring with a powerplay tally at 7:35 of the opening period, finishing off his own rebound. Oskars Batna and Tobias Fladeby picked up helpers. Early in the 2nd frame, defenseman Tyse Teague extended the lead to 2-0 when he shot from the right point found its way past Austin netminder Austin Smith. Willie Brown and Travis Wood assisted. Sheppard did the rest, keeping the Bruins off the board while Brown added an empty netter at 18:28 of the 3rd, to complete a seven point weekend.

Smith made 28 saves in the losing effort. The Bruins will seek their first win of the season at the NAHL Showcase in Blaine, MN this week. Their first matchup is against the first year Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights on Wednesday at 6:00 PM.
