BRUINS ALUMNI REPORT: Smith, Scheid Score Again

NHL: Christian Folin (Bruins ’10-12) is tied for 5th in the NHL +/- ranks with a +8 rating through nine games with the Wild. Folin played 40 games with the Wild in his rookie season of 2013-14 but has been shuttled to and from AHL Iowa the last two seasons.

ECHL: Eamon McAdam (Bruins ’10-11) is off to a good start with the Missouri Mavericks, posting a 2.94 GAA and a .911 SV% through four games with the Islanders’ ECHL affiliate. McAdam became the second Bruin (joining Folin) to ink a contract with an NHL team when he signed an entry-level deal last March. Keegan Asmundson (Bruins ’10-11) continues his journey around the ECHL, agreeing to terms with the Fort Wayne Comets this week, his fourth career ECHL club. (South Carolina, Evansville, Indy) In addition to Evansville and Indy last year, Asmundson spent time in the SPHL with the Pensacola Ice Flyers.

NCAA DI: CJ Smith (Bruins ‘11-13) scored his fifth for UMass-Lowell as they picked up a 4-2 win against Nebraska-Omaha on Saturday. Ian Scheid (Bruins ’14-15) scored his third goal of his freshman season already, the Friday game-winner in a 4-2 Mankato win over Ferris State. Zach Driscoll (Bruins ’14-15) notched another win on Saturday, needing to make just 10 saves in a 5-2 St. Cloud win over Alabama-Hunstville. Jay Dickman (Bruins ’12-14) had a pair of assists for the Bemidji State Beavers on Saturday as they blanked Alaska-Anchorage 4-0 for the weekend sweep. A few days before Jake Kucharski announced his commitment to Providence, Josh Wilkins (Bruins ’14-15) had an assist as the Friars shut out Brown, 6-0 on Sunday. Brennan Sanford (Bruins ’13-14) registered an assist in Michigan State’s 6-2 win over Michigan Tech on Friday, his third point of the early season.

NCAA D3: Adrian College was upset in their season opener by the Milwaukee School of Engineering on Friday, but rebounded Saturday with a 6-0 win. In the game, Cory Dunn (Bruins ’13-15) had two assists while Brian Bachnak (Bruins ‘13-15) added one helper.
