BRUINS ALUMNI REPORT: Smith Leading Amerks, Kielly Wins NCAA Honor

AHL: CJ Smith (Bruins ’11-13) registered at least a point in all three Amerks games last week, as Rochester went 2-0-1 against Syracuse and Binghamton. Smith totaled two goals and two assists in a 6-5 OT loss to Syraucse followed by 10-3 and 4-3/OT wins against Binghamton. Smith seems poised for a call-up, leading the Amerks with 19 points in 19 games.

ECHL: Eamon McAdam (Bruins ’10-11) got the win on Saturday as Worcester defeated Wheeling, 4-3. McAdam made 34 saves on 37 shots and is now 5-3-2 on the season with a 2.79 GAA and a .915 SV%.

NCAA DI: Jake Kielly (Bruins ’14-15) was awarded the NCCA’s #1 star of the week as Clarkson kept on rolling with two wins over in Ireland at the “Friendship Four.” Kielly was also named the “Most Outstanding Player” of the Tournament with a 22 save shutout of RPI on Friday and 20 more stops in a 4-2 win over Providence in the championship on Saturday. Kielly continues to lead NCAA DI hockey in wins, with 12. Nico Sturm (Bruins ‘14-15) scored on of Clarkson’s four goal on Saturday. They’ve now won eight straight. Alex Jasiek (Bruins ’14-15) scored Dartmouth’s only goal, his second of the season, as they fell in OT to Vermont. Two former Bruins scored goals in Saturday’s Bemidji State/Princeton game. Jay Dickman (Bruins ’12-14) opened the scoring with his 6th of the season, and Jacob Paganelli (Bruins ’15-16) got his first collegiate goal to close the game as Princeton skated away with the 4-1 win. Western Michigan started their weekend series against Colgate with a 5-3 Friday win. Dawson DiPietro (Bruins ’15-16) had a goal and an assist while Austin Rueschhoff (Bruins ’15-16) added a helper. WMU lost 5-1 on Saturday but Rueschhoff scored their lone goal. Brennan Sanford (Bruins ’13-14) scored in his 2nd straight game, but Michigan State was blasted by Penn State, 7-2 on Friday. Ian Scheid (Bruins ’14-15) scored Mankato’s only goal in a 3-1 Saturday loss to Minnesota-Duluth. The Mavericks had a rough weekend, also losing to Bowling Green.

NCAA DIII: Derek Olmschenk (Bruins 13-15) scored his first collegiate goal as St. Thomas topped Wisconsin-Superior, 2-1 on Saturday.

USHL: AJ Drobot (Bruins 15-17) scored twice last week, with a goal in each of Fargo’s wins over Sioux Falls and Des Moines.
