NCAA DI: CJ Smith (Bruins ’11-13) had a huge weekend with 3 goals and 2 assists as the UMass-Lowell River Hawks picked up wins over Colgate and Dartmouth in the Ledyard Bank Classic at Dartmouth. Four of the five points came in the Championship on Saturday as Smith netted a hat trick as the ‘Hawks took down host Dartmouth, 7-4. Luke Notermann (Bruins ’15-16) made his collegiate debut as he notched an assist as the Minnesota Golden Gophers beat Mercyhurst, 5-1 in the first game of the Mariucci Classic on Friday night. The Gophers defeated Niko Hildenbrand (Bruins ’13-14) and Massachusetts on New Year’s Eve to claim the Tournament Championship. Hildenbrand assisted on the game winner of his game Friday as Massachusetts defeated Alabama Huntsville, 2-1 in OT. Josh Wilkins (Bruins ’14-15) scored his sixth goal of the season as Providence completed a 1-0-1 weekend with Denver University, winning 3-1 on Saturday night.
