Mar 13, 2017

NCAA DI: Jason Pawloski (Bruins ’12-13) posted an 15 save shutout in a 1-0 Minnesota State-Mankato victory in game two of their WCHA Semifinal Series against Michigan Tech. The Mavericks season would come to an end on Sunday as they dropped the rubber game, 4-1, with Ian Scheid (Bruins ’14-15) scoring the only Mankato goal. Poetically, Pawloski picked up an assist on it. Jake Kielly (Bruins ’14-15) and Nico Sturm’s (Bruins ’14-15) seasons also came to end after Clarkson lost a pair of 2-1 games to surrender a 1-0 series lead against Cornell. Sturm had one assist in the series. Johnny Simonson (Bruins ’11-13) and the defending NCAA Champion North Dakota Fighting Hawks are on to the NCHC Semis after a sweep of St. Cloud, culminating in a dramatic 6-5 OT win on Saturday. Simonson set up both the game tying goal in the third and the game winner in the extra period. C.J. Smith (Bruins ’11-13) had a total of four points (two goals, two assists) as UMass-Lowell had little problem with the University of New Hampshire in the Hockey East Quarterfinals. They’ll take on Notre Dame in the Semis. Luke Notermann (Bruins ‘15-16) was featured in GopherSports.com’s Freshman Faceoff last week. The Gophers take on either Michigan or Penn State on Friday in the Big Ten Semifinals.

USHL: Austin Rueschhoff (Bruins ’15-16) stayed red hot for Dubuque with a goal on Friday vs. Waterloo and two more Saturday against the USNTDP. He’s now got five goals in his last five games. J.C. MacLean (Bruins ’14-15) had a goal in each of Sioux City’s road games at Des Moines and Waterloo over the weekend.
