BRUINS ALUMNI REPORT: Mankato Blasts Lake Superior State

NHL: Christian Folin (Bruins ’10-12) kept a hot stick with two more assists in Kings wins over Ottawa and Carolina last week. The Kings are just one point behind St. Louis and Tampa Bay for the top mark in the NHL.

AHL: CJ Smith (Bruins ’11-13) chipped in a goal and an assist on the Amerks three-game road trip last week. They went 2-0-1 with wins against Springfield and Bridgeport surrounding a shootout loss to Hartford.

NCAA DI: Clarkson surged to their 10th and 11th straight wins with a home-and-home sweep of St. Lawrence. Jake Kielly (Bruins ’14-15) was once again in goal for both games and continues to lead all NCAA goaltenders in wins (15) and goals-against-average (1.42). It was also a big weekend for Nico Sturm (Bruins ‘14-15) who finished with two goals and two assists, including a three-point game Friday. Justin Misiak (Bruins ’15-17) got his fourth goal of the season in Michigan Tech’s 4-3 loss to Ferris State on Friday. The Huskies rebounded to beat the Bulldogs on Saturday, 5-1. It was a big weekend for Minnesota State-Mankato as they traveled to Lake Superior State and swept the Lakers by convincing 5-1 and 7-0 finals. Jason Pawloski (Bruins ’12-13) was the winning goaltender on Friday with 23 saves while Ian Scheid (Bruins ’14-15) scored two goals on Saturday – his 6th and 7th of the season. Western Michigan snapped a four-game skid by defeating Miami in OT on Saturday with Dawson DiPietro (Bruins ’15-16) picking up 9th goal and 10th assist. He’s third on the Broncos in scoring. Josh Wilkins (Bruins ’14-15), Brennan Sanford (Bruins ’13-14) and Johnny Simonson (Bruins ’11-13) all picked up assists for their respective schools (Providence, Michigan State, North Dakota) over the weekend.

NCAA DIII: Michael Piehler (Bruins ’15-17) picked up an assist as Bethel took down Tanner DuFault and St. Johns in OT on Saturday, 5-4.

USHL: Zach Driscoll (Bruins ’14-15), playing in his first game in almost a month, registered his fourth shutout of the season (one off the USHL lead), making all 18 saves as Omaha blanked Sioux City 3-0 on Saturday. AJ Drobot (Bruins 15-17) continued his nice run with a goal in Fargo’s 4-2 win over Waterloo on Saturday. That’s three straight weekends with a goal.
