BRUINS ALUMNI REPORT: Firsts for Smith, Misiak

AHL: CJ Smith (Bruins ‘11-13) recorded his first three AHL points as the Rochester Americans swept the Syracuse Crunch, by 3-1 and 3-2/OT final scores. Smith had an assist on Friday in the Amerks home opener and then had a multi-point night with a goal and an assist on Saturday.

NCAA DI: Justin Misiak (Bruins ‘15-17) and Jade Miller (Bruins ‘14-16) faced off in the championship of Minnesota-Duluth’s “Ice Breaker Tournament,” with each player registering a point in Michigan Tech’s 4-3 win on Saturday. Miller notched an assist while Misiak scored the game-winning-goal, the first point of his collegiate career. The Providence Friars are off 2-0-0 start after 3-1 and 3-2 wins over Miami. Josh Wilkins (Bruins ‘14-15) scored a goal on Friday and added an assist on Saturday to kick off his Sophomore campaign. Clarkson also won their first two games, thanks in large part to Jake Kielly (Bruins ‘14-15), who made 37 saves in a 2-1 win over Penn State on Friday and then 26 more to shut out Michigan on Saturday. Now in his Senior year in an Alternate Captain role, Johnny Simonson (Bruins ’11-13) scored the lone goal in North Dakota’s 1-1 tie with Alaska-Anchorage on Friday. Dawson DiPietro (Bruins ‘15) had two assists in his first game of the season as Western Michigan blasted Ferris State, 6-1 on Friday at home.

USHL: Jake Kucharski (Bruins ‘16-17) stopped 18 shots in Des Moines’ 6-2 win over Madison on Friday, while Kris Carlson (Bruins ‘15-16) won his first start of the season on Sunday as the Central Illinois Flying Aces (formerly Bloomington Thunder) defeating Youngstown, 5-1 with a 24 save effort.
