BRUINS ALUMNI REPORT: Bruins Alums Making Waves Early On

Not only was it a huge week for the current Austin Bruins, the alumni base was making waves all over the hockey world.

NHL: Defenseman Christian Folin (Bruins ’10-’12) officially made the Minnesota Wild roster on Tuesday, claiming the lone open spot on the Wild blue line for Thursday’s season opener. Folin played 40 NHL games in 2014-15 and also spent 13 games at the AHL level.

NCAA: Forward and former captain Johnny Simonson (Bruins ’11-’13) scored a hat trick for the University of North Dakota in a preseason contest against the University of Manitoba on Friday. On Sunday, Jay Dickman (Bruins ’12-’14) registered two assists and was a +2 for Bemidji State in an exhibition win over the University of Manitoba.

USHL: Goaltender Jake Kielly (Bruins ’14-’15) registered a shutout in his USHL debut with the Tri City Storm on Saturday, making 31 saves to blank the Chicago Steel. Kielly received USHL player of the week honors as a result. Forward Josh Wilkins (Bruins ’14-’15) had an assist and was +3 as part of the Sioux City Musketeers’ 5-3 victory over the Sioux Falls Stampede on Saturday. The same night, forward JC MacLean registered three assists for the Omaha Lancers as they defeated Des Moines, 6-1.
