BRUINS ALUMNI REPORT: Boyd’s Hat Trick Carries Adrian

NHL: Although he did not register a point, Christian Folin (Bruins ’10-12) was a +3 in the LA Kings’ 6-0 shutout win against Arizona on Saturday night. That capped an odd week for the Kings, who lost 5-0 to Nashville two days earlier.

AHL: C.J. Smith (Bruins ’11-13) had a fairly quiet week coming off his AHL All-Star MVP performance, but he did register an assist in the Amerks 4-2 loss to Toronto on Friday.

ECHL: Eamon McAdam (Bruins ’10-11) grabbed his 11th win on Saturday night with 23 saves to beat Brampton, 5-2. He’s just outside the top 10 of all ECHL goaltenders with a .912 save percentage.

SPHL: Charlie Adams’ (Bruins ’10-12) Pensacola Ice Flyers put up 17 goals in a 2-game sweep of Evansville but the former Bruin shockingly managed just one assist, which came on Friday to extend his point streak to nine. He was off the scoresheet Saturday, despite eight Ice Flyers goals.

NCAA DI: Jade Miller (Bruins ’14-16) had a two-assist game, but Minnesota-Duluth fell at Denver, 4-3 on Saturday and has dropped four of five. Clarkson’s struggles also continued with losses at Quinnipiac and Princeton, but Nico Sturm (Bruins ’14-15) had an assist in Saturday’s game, going up against Jacob Paganelli (Bruins ’15-16), who also contributed a helper as the Tigers prevailed, 4-3. After a loss at Miami, Western Michigan rebounded on Saturday to snap a six-game skid with a 3-2 win. Dawson DiPietro (Bruins ’15-16) finished the weekend with two assists while Austin Rueschhoff (Bruins ’15-16) added one. Riese Zmolek (Bruins ’14-15) and Ian Scheid (Bruins ’14-15) both picked up assists in Mankato’s 7-1 Friday home win against Alaska-Anchorage. The Mavs completed the sweep, winning 4-3 on Saturday.

NCAA DIII: Adrian’s win streak has hit 10 with victories over Lake Forest and Aurora, 2-1 and 7-4 respectively. Trevor Boyd (Bruins ’14-15) had a huge game Saturday with a four-point night: a hat trick and an assist. Cory Dunn (Bruins ’13-15) and Brian Bachnak (Bruins ’13-15) finished the weekend with an assist each.

USHL: Keaton Pehrson (Bruins ’16-17) has gotten hot for Tri City, scoring his first two USHL goals and adding an assist in three games last week – his first points of any kind since December 15th. The first goal came Sunday (Jan. 28th) at Omaha before Pehrson had a two-point night at Waterloo on Saturday. Zach Driscoll (Bruins ’14-15) improved to 13-5-5 with a 30 save win over Central Illinois on Saturday, by a 4-2 final. AJ Drobot (Bruins ’15-17) is heating up for Fargo, he scored his third goal in five games and also picked up an assist as the Force beat Muskegon, 6-1 on Saturday.
