Bacon Tendered

Jun 15, 2017

The Austin Bruins, proud members of the North American Hockey League, announced on Thursday, that they have signed forward Seth Bacon to a tender agreement for the 2017-18 season.

Bacon, a ’98 birthyear from Duluth, GA played the last three seasons with the TPH Thunder program of the Tier I Elite League – the last two at the U18 level.  The Thunder is a prestigious Southern based AAA hockey organization.

“Bacon’s a tough kid and the fans will like his ‘old school’ style of play,” said Bruins head coach Steve Howard. “He hits hard, has a hard shot, and likes the rough stuff.”

Bacon played defense with the Thunder last season, scoring eight goals and adding four assists in 31 regular season games – plus four points in four playoff games. Howard says the Bruins plan on using him as a forward, with the ability to pencil him in on the blue line if needed.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders – plus or minus any trades – which become active on November 1st.

The Bruins are set to hold their main tryout camp from July 12th-16th at Riverside Arena.
