Austin Wins 5-3

The Austin Bruins hit the road for the final trip to North Dakota to battle the Minotauros. The opening frame was not what the Bruins expected. Mason Morelli the youngest player in the NAHL scored his first goal of his career giving Minot a 1-0 lead. Minot added their second of the night as Seth Blair beat Tyler Bruggeman. At the end of one period of play Austin trailed 2-0 and outshot Minot 16-9. The middle frame Minot made it 3-0. John Kirby dropped the gloves wit Derek Tylka as the two captain’s battled for supremacy. The fight ended in a draw as both players lost balance. At the end of two periods of play Austin had outshot Minot 31-16. The Austin Bruins Matt Hansen scored a power play goal just 36 seconds into the third, assists went to AJ Reid and Jon Gehrt. The Bruins added their second goal of the evening as AJ Reid found the twine assists went to Jon Gehrt and Colton Kramer. The tying goal came from rookie Jake Flynn, assisting was Charlie Adams and John Kirby. Giving the Bruins the lead was Chris Fischer as he walked the puck off the perimeter and beat Jake Hebda. The final goal of the game came from Matt Hansen assisting was Brandon Wahlin and CJ Smith. The Bruins scored 5 third period goals to beat Minot 5-3. Austin is now 9-0 against Minot this season. The Bruins will wrap up the Minot portion of the road trip tomorrow night.
